2026 General Election: Key Dates and Voting Guide for Summit County

With the 2026 General Election approaching on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, it is crucial that every conservative voter in Summit County knows exactly how, when, and where to cast their ballot.

This year brings some important changes to the voting process—including a new deadline for returning mail-in ballots. To ensure your voice is heard, we’ve put together this quick guide with everything you need to know.

Important Deadlines & Key Dates

  • October 13: The Summit County Clerk will begin mailing out ballots.

  • October 23 (at 5:00 PM): Voter Registration Deadline. This is the last day to register to vote online and automatically receive a mail-in ballot. If you miss this deadline, you can still vote provisionally in person during early voting or on Election Day.

  • October 27 – October 31: Early In-Person Voting. (The county has added an extra day to give voters more options this year!)

  • November 3: Election Day! In-person voting is open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

How to Vote

1. Vote by Mail / Drop Box ( Important Change!) The 2026 General Election will proceed with standard mail-in voting. However, due to new legislation passed during the 2025 Legislative Session, ballots must now be RECEIVED by the Clerk by 8:00 PM on Election Day. In the past, they only had to be postmarked by Election Day. Do not wait until the last minute—use one of the county's official ballot drop boxes to ensure your vote is received in time!

  • Note for 2029 Opt-In: A new law requires voters to "opt-in" to vote by mail beginning in 2029. You can actually make this choice now by updating your registration online.

2. Early In-Person Voting Take advantage of early voting from Tuesday, October 27 through Saturday, October 31. This is a great way to secure your vote early and avoid Election Day lines.

3. In-Person on Election Day If you prefer to vote on Election Day, polls will be open on Tuesday, November 3 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
